A Mother’s Journey: Celebrating Miracles and Milestones at Blossoming Cherries

A Mother Journey Celebrating Miracles and Milestones at Blossoming Cherries

Opening Greetings

Fellow parents, families, our little graduands, other learners, teachers and the entire school fraternity, and honored guests: good morning!

Personal Introduction

My name is Esther, or Mama M. I refer to myself as one of the oldest parents in this school. My son joined this school aged less than 3 years and has been here for the last five years. I brought him here to interact with other learners so that he could learn how to speak. This really tells you how small my dreams were.

So you wonder, why? Believe it or not—because you just have to believe it—my boy spoke his first words at the age of five. Before that, he uttered no words, or we could not make out what message he wanted to pass. I remember there is a song he loved singing; however, we could not make out any word of what he was singing. Teacher Lilian would tell me, “I hope one day we shall make out what he is singing.”

A Moment of Celebration

I have sat on these chairs at several previous graduation ceremonies, not knowing whether our turn would ever come, but today it is here. So, when you see us celebrate, please let us celebrate. When you see our little ones march here and don their graduation gowns, see God. It has been quite a journey. For two years my son was in this school learning “SATPIN.” I know there are many other parents who have been through a path like ours.

Encouragement to Parents

I would want to encourage all parents, especially those who have children with special needs, to keep the faith, to be strong, to be present, to do their part, and to just love these angels.

Main Address

I am elated to gather here and celebrate the graduation of our little children. As parents, we have been part of this journey that began some years ago with shyness, fear, and tears on the first day of school. However, today, these little graduands are now more confident, bold, quite expressive, and, to say the least, we are impressed with the incredible growth we have seen in them.

The other day, my son was coughing loudly and his dad warned him to stop coughing that way or his lungs would get out. To our amazement, he answered, “Real fathers say nice things to their children.” These children remind us every time that they belong to a different generation and that we have to be mindful of what we say to them.

Why we Love Blossoming Cherries

I brought my son to this school for a very simple reason. The school was well enclosed with a perimeter fence and a gate that is always closed, so I knew that if I left him in the school, I would find him in the evening. However, now there are several reasons why we love this school: The teachers have nurtured creativity in these young ones.

In addition, this school has created a beautiful school culture that has molded these learners all round. The school has brought out the magic of learning through play. Moreover, here children are taught valuable aspects, including kindness, respect, sharing, caring, and being part of a community. I would encourage any parent looking for a school to only think of Blossoming Cherries Learning Centre.

Closing message to graduands

To the little graduands, as you move to Grade 1, keep the values you have learned here. Keep asking questions. Keep learning.

Conclusion

Thank you.
